Losing Stuff Can be Less Stressful with Tile

I don't normally review or promote products that aren't available yet, but this one is too good to pass up (at least on the surface).

I don't know a single person who doesn't lose something now and again. Keys, bicycle, notebook... you name it, and it can be lost. The "Tile" doesn't claim that it will prevent you from losing your stuff, but it does claim that it will help you to find it again. Here's how it works:

Although Tile doesn't use GPS to locate your lost items, it does enlist the help of other Tile users. If your lost item is within range (50-150 feet) of another Tile user, their device will silently alert the Tile cloud about your lost item, which will in turn let you know roughly where it is (within 50-150 feet). Once your on location, your Tile app will then go to work to pinpoint the exact location using Bluetooth.

You can pre-order your Tiles today, but they won't ship to you until later this year or early next year. A single Tile will cost you about $19, a set of four Tiles will cost you about $57, and a set of twelve Tiles will cost you about $170 ($14/each).

As of right now, the Tile app only works with iOS devices that support Bluetooth 4.0. That's a bummer for those sporting an Android, Blackberry or Windows phone.

My first Tile will go on my check-in luggage so I can track it while traveling. Where will your first Tile go?
