Apple Fall Product Launch Event - September 2018

Apple’s annual Fall product launch event was this morning and it was a big one! Tim Cook and company announced Apple Watch and iPhone updates with some incredible new features.

Today’s media event was broadcast from the Steve Jobs theater at Apple’s new Apple Park location in Cupertino, California.

Apple Watch

  • Apple is the #1 watch, period

  • Apple Watch has become an intelligent guardian for your health

  • Introducing Apple Watch Series 4!

  • Everything about it has been redesigned and reengineered and it’s just beautiful

  • Screens are more than 30% larger than Series 3

  • Series 4 is slightly thinner than Series 3

  • Every part of the UI (user interface) has been redesigned

  • Brand new watch face with up to 8 complications

  • Breathe app is now available as a watch face in 3 variations

  • Rounded corners on the screen match the rounded corners on the Apple Watch

  • Speaker is 50% louder than Series 3

  • Microphone has been moved to the opposite side of the speaker

  • The back of Series 4 is made of black ceramic and sapphire crystal

  • New S4 chip contains a new dual-core 64-bit processor delivering 2x performance

  • Upgraded sensors make it possible to detect sudden falls

  • When a fall/slip occurs, Series 4 delivers an alert to initiate an emergency call

  • If no motion is detected for 60 seconds after a fall/slip, action is automatically taken

  • 3 new heart functions: low heart rate, irregular heart rhythm & ECG

  • Series 4 can now take an electrocardiogram (ECG)!

  • ECG results are stored in the health app as a PDF and can be easily shared with your doctor

  • Dr. Ivor Benjamin, President of the American Heart Association, takes the stage

  • Apple has received clearance from the FDA (first of its kind) for new health features

  • All data (including health and fitness) is fully protected and encrypted

  • WatchOS 5 to be included

  • Battery life has the same all-day, 18-hour battery life
