When Philips brought us their multi-colored LED lighting system last year, I seriously thought it was the coolest thing I had seen in quite a while (and somewhat practical). These RGB-enabled LED lightbulbs could replace your traditional lightbulbs, and with the help of an iOS app, allow you to fill a room with various colors (or mixes of colors, using multiple bulbs), to set the mood.
Today, Philips announced the next step to their colorful journey... Hue 1.1. This impressive update brings several new capabilities to Hue:
- Geofencing: the ability to have your Hue bulbs react to your comings and goings
- Event-based Triggers: you can actually set your bulbs to react to different triggers like stock trends and weather
- Recurring Triggers: greatly enhanced recurring triggers
