Creating Stunning Documents Using Apple Pages Templates

When it comes to making flyers and newsletters, you have several options: 1) you can try to build your own design from scratch using a word processor and image editing app, 2) you can pay a designer a lot of money (well-deserved, I might add), or 3) you can do it yourself using one of Apple's beautifully designed templates built in to their (free) Pages app.

These templates are great for yard sales, baby announcements, party invitations, fundraisers, bake sales... even advertising your business.

When you launch Pages, most people immediately begin a new document by choosing a blank document without taking notice of the many professionally-designed templates. These templates fall into several categories:

  • Basic
  • Reports
  • Stationary
  • Flyers & Posters
  • Cards
  • Miscellaneous
  • Newsletter

Using these templates is super-simple. The images and text pre-popuated on the templates are designed to be placeholders for your own images and text. To replace an image of theirs with an image of yours, simply drag and drop your image over top of their image (or use the built-in image browser which uses your iPhoto as the basis). If the image has a special border or crop applied to the template, those same styles will stay in affect with your image. To replace their text with your own, simply double-click on the text and begin typing.

It's so simple to create stunning documents using Pages. Give it a try today to see what you can create! Below is a sample template to give you an idea:
